Shoulda coulda woulda: Deformed floor panels at 6750 Steel Carpark

In this column, we ask our highly opinionated Coconuts Manila readers to submit a problem in their community and suggest what could be done to prevent it, what should be done to fix it. As you can see, our readers have the solutions, if only someone would ask them!

THE PROBLEM: The deformed floor panels on the third floor of 6750 Steel Parking in Ayala Center pose a safety risk to vehicles. These panels are sticking out and not marked by traffic cones, which is understandable; if all of them were marked, there won’t be enough space left to maneuver or ensure the smooth flow of turning and exiting traffic.

THE INCIDENT: Driving over these floor panels could not be good for your tires unless you’re driving a Hummer (you probably won’t feel the impact but you won’t be able to turn into the nearby parking slot either) or an armored tank (but you won’t be allowed in.) Navigating around them is a test of driving prowess which, as the photos here show, not all people pass.

SHOULDA COULDA WOULDA:
The parking management must have its reasons for holding off the repairs for months and not closing the affected level to traffic. But are they more important than safety?
