We expect nothing less from a German bar than an impressive beer list, and at newly opened Prost Braumeister, we are happy to report you can easily get your fill of Erdingers and Paulaners and pair them with satisfying bar chows like the mini-Reubens spring roll (mozzarella-wrapped corned beef, PHP260/six pieces). There is also another compelling reason to swing by: a sighting of Kapamilya actor Sam Milby, who is one of its owners. Hot tip: He usually drops by late in the evening, around midnight.
THE LOOK: Very cosmopolitan! The walls on both ends are covered in chic vertical black-and-white stripes, emphasizing its high ceiling. The vintage posters celebrating beer and drinking, meanwhile, add humor and character. An open bar both welcomes the guest, and showcases the staff, who are dressed in sleek black and busy concocting drinks.
THE GOODS: Prost boasts of a mean drinks menu, with focus on German beer. Stef Zanirato, one of the owners, recommends two things: the Paulaner Hefe Weissbier (PHP260), a light and fruity white beer. For solid beer drinkers, give the 8.9% alcohol content Oettinger Super Forte (PHP180) a try. Line your stomach with The Hoff Burger (PHP380), a 100% Angus beef patty, coated with pesto cream sauce and salsa, pimped with alfalfa sprouts, and topped with sunny side-up egg. But if you’re geared for a German experience, the Nuernberger Sausage (PHP400) should do the trick.
