Poker players, enthusiasts gather for APT Asian Series Manila 2013

The APT Asian Series Manila 2013 kicked off on Wednesday afternoon, October 9. Poker enthusiasts converged at Resorts World Manila’s Genting Club for a couple of side events to start of eight-day poker tour, which is touted as the most prestigious one in Asia.

The first event, No Limit Hold ‘Em Re-Buys + 1 Add-On, had a total of 105 entries — with 90 rebuys and 100 add-ons — the highest-ever number for an APT Asian Series opening day side event. It had a buy-in of PHP3,300 with re-buys and add-on at PHP 3,000. Dhanesh Chainani from Singapore was the top winner. He received a healthy PHP219,000 from the total prize pool of PHP848,400.

Meanwhile, the other opening day side event, Add-On for Charity, drew 32 players. Lai Chee Hoong from Malaysia took home the title. He won PHP64,000 while helping out the Rotary Club of Makati North’s (RCMN) Feed a Child Program.
