Admit it, we’re a beer-chugging nation, but we can only drink so many bottles of San Miguel beers. Thank god for craft beers and imported brands! But while we welcome the Stellas and the Hoes with welcome arms, we still think they’re too pricey (we’ll need more than a bottle to satisfy our cravings, so it adds up) and reserve them for the really special occasions or the shittiest of days.
OUR SECRET: From the geniuses behind Draft Gastropub comes Black Olive Cerveseria in Capital Commons, Pasig. Like Draft, Black Olive boasts a fine drink list, offering imported beers, decent cocktails, and single malts and champagne. The newly opened Black Olive (smell the fresh paint off the walls!) also intends to have imported beers on tap, but until that happens, guests will have to make do with its fantastic happy hour promo: PHP50 for a 50cl bottle of the beautiful Belgian beer that is Stella Artois.
Here’s an even better piece of manginginom news: the Black Olive happy hour is five hours-long, from 3pm to 8pm. When we visited, we were able to down four bottles in three hours — damage: PHP200 — about the same price as a regular-priced bottle, really.
Of course, what’s a drinking session without food? Alas, Black Olive doesn’t have a happy hour promo on that, but you’re already saving enough moolah with your beer, what’s spending some money on nutrition? We recommend their pizzas. The parma ham with arugula, below, sets you back PHP495.
