When Janet Lim Napoles showed up at the Senate today, she was grilled by Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago.
While Napoles didn’t say much, Santiago entertained everyone with her sharp comments. Here are seven of her killer quips:
1. “You cannot keep on invoking your right against self-incrimination since you took an oath to tell the truth.”
2. “Sino ang most guilty? Hindi mo alam? Ako alam ko eh…senador, because he owns an empire!”
3. “Pag-isipan mo ha, friendly tip from a lawyer. Tell the truth before the senators have you assassinated.”
4. “Baka ipapatay ka nila, kawawa ka naman. Gantihan mo na habang buhay ka pa.”
5. “Is it true that you are close to a certain Catholic congregation? Are you familiar with the Ten Commandments? Are you familiar with the commandment: You shall not steal? Are you familiar with the commandment: You should not tell a lie? And still, with the plunder case against you, you remain and consider yourself to be a devout Catholic?”
6. “In the Philippines, the jury is the entire Filipino public. Makikita ng publiko kung may tinatago ka.”
7. “She has no clue what the meaning of the rule of law is. Ignorance can be treated, but stupid is forever.”
