This video couldn’t have come at a better time. At one TED x Diliman talk, musician Joey Ayala shares his rendition of the national anthem. “This is an illegal act,” he deadpans, later explaining that playing with songs are just one of his exercises as a musician. He points out a few important things: the awkward phrasing, the melodramatic ending that could have possibly given us a psychological damage, how the current anthem is actually a rigid march when in fact Filipinos are a very soft and accomodating people. He changes the time signature from a march to a 6/8 and the result is beautiful.
WHERE THE MAGIC HAPPENS: 4:29 when Joey Ayala begins to sing the song in full.

Ricardo Maulion says

Now the lyrics are more clear and make sense than the original one…We are at the mercy of helping one another like nowadays specially now that we face destruction in tacloban and people in other countries are helfing us then and we are now not in war so I guess passing a bill to replace the original one makes sense,The original one is for at war and the other one is for friendship.

Tune is revised a little bit, pero hindi naman nalalayo sa original version, mas maliwanag, mas maganda…..
