DSWD may ask companies to donate Christmas food packs to Yolanda survivors

It’s better to give than to receive.

The Department on Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is most probably banking on this perspective as it thinks about asking private companies, organizations, and other government agencies to donate Christmas food packs to Typhoon Yolanda survivors in Leyte and Samar.

“DSWD Secretary Dinky Soliman said the agency is cognizant of the need of typhoon victims to have something special to observe, if not celebrate, the Christmas season,” reports Rainier Allan Ronda in The Philippine Star.

Soliman went on to explain that the said Christmas food packs could be the “modest versions” of Christmas gift baskets. She suggested, “The Christmas food packs could have a simple (type of) cheese, not quezo de bola.”

According to the report, Soliman said that “the DSWD is also working on a cash-for-work program for typhoon victims and Soliman said the department will have a final plan by Thursday, November 28.”
