Japanese tourists victimized by robbers in Manila

Perhaps, these Japanese tourists should learn the language from the Tagalog-speaking Japanese aid worker. That way they can amuse and/or scare robbers.

“Japanese tourist Yoshitomo Nakata, 41, told the Manila Police District’s general assignment section that he was in front of the Rothman Hotel last Friday night, Nov 22, when three men and a woman approached him and offered him magazines,” reports Aie Balagtas See in The Philippine Star.

Nakata chatted with the trio, whom he thought were simply friendly locals. However, when he checked his bag a few minutes after the group left, he realized that his PHP19,000 digital camera and PHP8,657 cash were missing.

Earlier last week, another Japanese tourist was also robbed near the same area.

According to the report, 35-year-old Takuya Katsuyama lost PHP440,000 to snatchers as he was walking near the intersection of Pedro Gil street and Roxas Boulevard at about 9 pm on Wednesday, Nov 20.
