12 million devotees expected in Black Nazarene Feast

In other words, stay away from Manila on January 9! (Unless, of course, you had no other choice or you want to be there.)

“The Catholic church is expecting around 12 million devotees to visit the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene (a.k.a. the Quiapo Church) starting New Year’s Day up to January 9, 2014, the Feast of the Black Nazarene,” reports Vito Barcelo in Manila Standard Today

The report also revealed that this year, “to enable as many of the faithful to fulfill their pledges and say their personal intentions, the organizers have also included in the program the icon’s visit at the Quirino Grandstand in Luneta.”

As of 2010, the population of Metro Manila is 11.8 million.
