Korina Sanchez is not suspended, she’s in school

Two months after Yolanda and the Korina Sanchez-Anderson Cooper brouhaha, ABS-CBN issued an official statement regarding the radio and broadcast journalist’s limited appearances on the channel. Apparently, she’s being schooled. Correction: she is busy in school and concentrating on her studies. No, she’s not suspended, nor are her limited appearances part of any PR crisis management whatsoever.

“Korina Sanchez is currently on leave from her morning program on DZMM to concentrate on her postgraduate studies at the Ateneo de Manila University. This was planned as early as middle of 2013 when Korina informed ABS-CBN management about her intentions to focus on her studies. Korina will continue to be seen on television as anchor of TV Patrol and Rated K,” the Jan 6, 2014 statement released by ABS-CBN corporate communications head Ramon “Bong” Osorio.

She is said to be enrolled in Ateneo’s Masters in Journalism course, a “unique, two-year distance learning program for working journalists, educators, and members of allied media allows students to engage an international body of faculty and students to broaden their knowledge, develop an Asian perspective in their work, and hone competencies they need to excel in their professions,” according to Ateneo’s website.

Which means she doesn’t even have to step on the hallowed Jesuit grounds of Ateneo, right?
