PH sends first-ever figure skater to Winter Olympics

Who would’ve thought we’d have a representative in the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi City, Russia next month?

“The Philippines will be sending Michael Christian Martinez, 17, who is the country’s first-ever figure skater to qualify for the Olympics,” reports Chiara Mapa in The Philippine Star.

The report revealed that Martinez first got interested in figure skating in 2005, when he hung out at the SM Southmall Skating Rink in Las Piñas City.

We say, “Good luck. You’ve come a long way, baby.”
