QC coffee shop robbed at gunpoint

It seems that even coffee spots are no longer safe.

“At around 6pm on Saturday, Feb 2, robbers barged into the Cordillera Coffee Shop, located at the Llanar Building on Xavierville Avenue, Barangay Loyola Heights in Quezon City,” reports Julie M. Aurelio in the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

At first, one of the robbers came in and pretended to be a customer. He even ordered a drink. Then, about 10 minutes after he sat down, his partner barged into the shop and brandished a .45 pistol at the customers.

The two men then proceeded to take the customers’ cash and belongings, which amounted to PHP226,900. The items included five cellphones worth PHP45,400, two MacBook Pros valued at PHP150,000, a Neo laptop worth PHP15,000, a CKK tablet valued PHP5,000, a Polaroid digicam worth PHP5,000, PHP6,400 cash, as well as a set of house keys.

The robbers made all the customers and crew get into a bathroom and locked them up. The robbers then reportedly proceeded to ransack the coffee shop.

According to the report, “a roving security guard reported the robbery to the police after noticing that something was amiss inside the empty coffee shop.”
