Carinderia Crawl E4: 15th Avenue Carinderia, Cubao

Graphic artist Emerson Jimenez, 24, lives in Fairview but works near Mall of Asia.

He likes breaking the long commute home by stopping by Cubao to hang out with his friends. He likes discovering cheap eats here.

This evening, Emerson takes us to 15th Avenue Carinderia, a newly opened eatery that is popular for their pancit dishes. It is clean, comfortable and has orange-colored walls that grab our attention the moment you step in.

Two tables are occupied, and the wait staff assures us that though few people dine here, they do brisk business delivering bulk orders of pancit canton and pancit bihon.

Emerson, who is still wearing a tie with his purple long-sleeved business shirt, orders pancit canton and when it arrives, immediately praises its size and ingredients. “It has carrots, cabbage, beans, shrimp and pork. They use oyster sauce. I like that there are a lot of vegetables,” he tell us before he digs into the plate.

In between bites of his vegetable-heavy pancit canton, Emerson tells us about his daily routine and shares his dream of becoming a superhero; he once wore a costume to a fun run and it thrilled him that random people asked to have their photos taken with him. (Watch video below for clips.)

WHAT EMERSON ATE: One short order of pancit canton for PHP40.

WHAT HE THINKS: The noodles were thick and soft, but the pancit canton was drowning in sauce. He liked how the place is clean and how one short order could serve two to three people.
