His idea of “pasalubong” isn’t welcome.
“On Sunday, April 6, Bureau of Customs (BOC) officers confiscated 16 bullets and a sachet of marijuana leaves from Jefferson Garalde, 42, a Filipino who arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2 from Honolulu, Hawaii,” reports Rudy Santos in The Philippine Star.
Garalde was supposed to board a connecting flight for Laoag City. When he was questioned about the contraband inside the balikbayan box he brought, he claimed that a friend in Honolulu had asked him to bring it to the Philippines.
The authorities, however, didn’t buy Garlde’s excuse, so he will be charged with violating drug and gun laws before the Pasay prosecutor’s office.
