Traffic advisory: MMDA lifts number coding on April 9

It’s because April 9 is “Araw ng Kagitingan,” a regular holiday.

“The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced that the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) or the “number coding” scheme will be lifted Wednesday, April 9 for the commemoration of the a declared regular holiday,” reports Mike Frialde on Philstar.com.

The report then issued a reminder-of-sorts about the Metro Manila traffic scheme.

Normally, under the UVVRP, vehicles with license plate numbers ending in 1 and 2 are not allowed in EDSA and on the major streets of Metro Manila from 7am to 10am and again between 3pm and 7pm on Mondays.

Vehicles with license numbers ending in 3 and 4 are covered by the UVVRP on Tuesdays; 5 and 6 (Wednesdays); 7 and 8 (Thursdays) and 9 and 0 (Fridays).

Vehicles covered by the UVVRP for each day are, however, given the “window hours” of 10am to 3pm to use EDSA and the other major thoroughfares such as the C-5 Road, Roxas Boulevard and the Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard, regardless of the cities covered.

The MMDA, however, reminds motorists that there are no “window hours” in Makati City, Malabon City, and Las Pinas City.
