MRT boss says he’s not resigning because it would make him look guilty

In an interview on ANC’s Headstart, Metro Rail Transit general manager Al Vitangcol made it clear that he isn’t resigning because “quitting at this time may be misinterpreted as an admission of guilt.”

“But Vitangcol said he will voluntary resign once he is cleared of extortion allegations. He is being accused of trying to extort PHP30 million from Czech train maker Inekon in exchange for a contract to supply additional MRT coaches,” reports ANC.

In addition to that, Vitangcol is also being slammed by several commuter groups. They’ve tagged him as “inefficient” due to the current woes they’re experiencing.

However, Vitangcol firmly said, “I have considered resigning but not at this time. Because if I resign at this time it might be misconstrued as an admission of guilt. Once I’m cleared by all investigating bodies, nobody would ask me to resign. I will resign voluntarily.”
