Lawmaker wants to probe NAIA issues

It’s dirty work, but somebody’s gotta do it.

“In filing House Resolution 909, Valenzuela City Rep. Sherwin Gatchalian seeks to find out where the PHP1.16-billion budget in 2011 went to upgrade Terminal 1 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA),” reports Maricel Cruz in Manila Standard Today.

Gatchalian, vice chairman of the House committee on Metro Manila Development, slammed the mismanagement in the administration and operations of NAIA. He urged the Department of Transportation and Communication and the Department of Tourism to get rid of the disturbing label as the “world’s worst airport.”

“The same complaints of bribery, lack of comfortable seats, rude staff and poor facilities hound us and continue to be a challenge for the government,” Gatchalian said.
