Looks like we made it!

Forgive us for breaking into a Barry Manilow; it’s just recognition always feels nice, doesn’t it? We were quite happy to read the report of the US Bureau of Inquirer.net about how Tagalog is now included in California’s system of online voter registration.

It is one of the 8 additional languages of site, launched in 2012, with which voters can register online. The other seven are: Chinese, Hindi, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Thai, and Vietnamese.

“Advocates pushed for this expansion, noting that Asian Americans in California tend to have a relatively low voter registration rate,” the report reads. Only 58 percent of Asians were registered in 2012.

Californians who would like to vote in the June 3 primary will need to be registered by May 19.
