Z is a new place in Bgy Teacher’s Village that houses several start-up food stalls — it’s got a casual, welcome-to-the-neighborhood vibe with young folks selling everything from pita bread and burgers to shawarma and pastries.
On this episode of Carinderia Crawl, we turn the cameras on Marti Salva, who has been editing this video series for Coconuts since Episode 1. Marti takes us to B-B-Q ZONE where he orders pork barbecue and liempo (pork belly).
Marti loves to eat and isn’t fussy when it comes to food. He picked this place because he thinks all BBQs taste the same. He was curious if this one would be different.
WHAT MARTI ATE: Three sticks of pork BBQ, one grilled liempo and a cup of rice for PHP198.
MARTI’S SAY: He liked the pork BBQ because it was meaty (not fatty) and the flavor was consistent all throughout, with a not-too-sweet marinade. Easily one of the best ones he’s had. He also liked the liempo because the meat was fresh and tender, although the portion left him wanting more. He says it was a pleasant surprise that the liempo tasted a lot different from the pork BBQ, since most eateries usually use one marinade for all items. The kitchen and griller were clean. The place is hip and cool, with many art pieces to distract waiting customers.
WORDS OF WISDOM: “May mga araw na mayroon akong sobrang pera, pero kahit ganoon, matipid pa rin ako. Masarap kasi kapag sulit ‘yung mga binibili mo at nag-iipon ako para sa mga bagay na gusto ko talaga, hindi ‘yung basta-basta na lang gumagastos.”
