Court of Tax Appeals says BIR can’t freeze Pacman’s properties

This round goes to the Pacman.

“According to Manny Pacquiao’s lawyer, Atty Tranquil Salvador, the Court of Tax Appeals has ruled in favor of their petition to lift the warrant of garnishment issued by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR),” reports ANC.

This means that the BIR can’t seize the properties of the boxing champ.

But, of course, BIR Commissioner Kim Henares has another interpretation. She was quoted as saying, “I do not see it as stopping the garnishment, as it will only stop if he is able to post the cash bond which is more than PHP3 billion or a surety bond of more than PHP4 billion.”
