Rumor: One Direction to perform in Manila

More than ever, people believe the British boyband is really flying to the Philippines, thanks to a Facebook and Twitter post by One Direction Philippines made last April 17.

They tweeted: “There will be a big announcement on May 7 from @mmilive and @itsarpee. Well, we think you already know what it might be so either way, make sure to save up!”

Who the hell is @mmilive? MMI Live is a concert promoter that has brought to the country acts like Bruno Mars, The Killers, and David Guetta. They’re even bringing taylor Swift this June. On the other hand, @itsarpee is Rhiza Pascua, MMI Live’s CEO.

It didn’t take long before rumored concert details circulated online.

Like how the concert is supposed to be part of the band’s “Where We Are Now” world tour.

Or how it will happen this March 2015.

Or how it will be a two-night concert in SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Or how ticket prices range from PHP5,000 (general admission) to PHP20,965 (VIP A).

With all the rumors and speculations, One Direction Philippines posted the following official statement:

“As we value everyone’s trust in us to deliver you the latest updates and news regarding the boys of One Direction, it was our duty to make sure that you knew about this announcement without damaging anyone’s plans and schedules by directly stating anything about their future plans, especially since it is not our announcement to confirm nor deny. Granted, no one can confirm or deny news like that aside from 1DHQ themselves, Ivory Music and Video, or @mmilive and @itsarpee. Therefore, we simply told you to save up.

“Following what we had said, we cannot confirm nor deny anything because we are very careful with protocol as we do not want to violate nor lose anyone’s trust. As we are also looking out for the entire local fanbase, all we cann do as of this moment is to ask everyone to PLEASE remain patient with the announcement that is going to be made on MAY 7. We cannot control the things you hear or read from other people, but we do hope you are willing to wait until further official announcements have been finally made.”

So it looks like all we can do is wait for May 7.
