Former Makati official links Senator Nancy Binay to cakes anew

Despite Senator Nancy Binay’s past declaration that she has nothing to do with the cakes being distributed by the Makati local government to senior citizens, another former Makati official has linked her to the sticky issue.

“Engineer Mario Hechanova, the former head of Makati City’s general services department and vice chairman of the bids and awards committee, said no less than former Makati Mayor and now Vice President Jejomar Binay followed up on the payment for the cakes that were being delivered to the senior citizens of Makati,” reports David Dizon on ABS-CBNnews.com.

Hechanova said, “Minsan po pinatawag niya ako at ang sabi niya sa akin: ‘Mario, ano ba ang nangyayari dun sa payment sa cake ni Nancy.'”

Hechanova explained that he “had to hold off payment because the list of senior citizens submitted by the Social Welfare Department did not have signatures.”

When asked if he believes that Binay’s daughter supplies the cakes, he said: “Sa palagay ko ganun po kasi ang fina follow-up yung bayad e.”

Senator Binay, has denied Hechanova’s claim and challenged him to present proof that she is the supplier of Makati’s cakes. “Umaapaw ang kasinungalingan ni Mario Hechanova,” she said.

Binay added: “Inuulit ko rin po, wala po akong bake shop, at hindi rin po ako marunong mag-bake. Bawal po ang pamilya ng incumbent officials na mag-transact sa City Hall dahil sa conflict of interests.”
