FBI agent assaulted by armed men on Roxas Boulevard

Yes, folks, he’s the real deal. We’re sorry this happened to him, but we’re also curious about his mission here.

“Lamont Siler—an agent of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) who is currently on assignment in the country—was allegedly assaulted by a group of armed men following a minor vehicular accident on Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City at around 7pm on Monday, September 8,” reports Maricar B. Brizuela in Philippine Daily Inquirer.

The alleged incident happened near the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) complex.

According to Pasay City police chief Senior Supt. Melchor Reyes, “Siler was dragged out of his vehicle at gunpoint and took a punch after his car’s side mirror got into contact with and left scratches on a sport utility vehicle (SUV).”

In fact, it was US Embassy Manila Special Investigator Voltaire Gomez who went to the Pasay police station later that night and confirmed Siler’s identity.

Gomez had also told Reyes that following the road the mishap, “Siler’s car was blocked by two other SUVs which apparently served as backup vehicles for the first SUV that got scratched.”

Then, “four of the men who got out pointed shotguns at the Siler and demanded that he hand over his driver’s license and U.S. Embassy badge.”

The men returned Siler’s things to him after they saw he was an FBI agent. It was at this point that they left, telling Siler they would still contact him on the phone for payment.

The report noted: “Investigators on Tuesday began tracking down the damaged vehicle—a Toyota Fortuner with license plate number YF-8560—by checking with the Land Transportation Office.
