Motorists, beware!
“Police are now trying to identify a man who pretended to be a police officer and whom they suspect is still victimizing motorists,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.
Jay (not his real name) recalled that last month, he was driving drove through Felix Huertas Road in Sta. Cruz, Manila, at around 4pm. Then, suddenly, he was flagged by a man on a motorcycle who claimed to be a police officer.
The man introduced himself as “SPO2 Jojo Ramos” of the “Anti-Carnapping Unit.”
Luckily, Jay managed to get his encounter with Ramos (if that is indeed his real name) on video.
In the clip, Ramos is shown wearing a black jacket and a motorcycle helmet. He informed Jay that he was on a one-way street.
Ramos then asked for Jay’s license and told him to follow him to the police station. Ramos also mentioned that the process would cost PHP8,500.
However, Jay refused to hand over the said amount. Ramos got mad and started cussing Jay.
Jay was scared because he had also gotten the feeling that Ramos wasn’t really a cop. He ended up offering P100 to him. Ramos got mad when he saw that Jay was only giving him P100, but he took the money anyway and then left on his motorcycle.
Jay later showed the video to Police Senior Inspector Rommel Geneblazo, who is the chief of the Manila Police District’s Anti-Carnapping Unit.
Geneblazo confirmed that Ramos was not a real cop. He said there was no policeman by that name.
Police are now looking for Ramos.
