Dear SM: Rape is not a funny T-shirt slogan

Thanks to writer Karen Kunawicz for alerting everyone on social media about this terrible, terrible thing she found at the boys’ section of SM Department store at SM Megamall. She posted the above photo on Facebook Monday evening around 9:30pm and immediately spread on the Internet.

The shirt had these words printed on it: “It’s Not Rape. It’s A Snuggle With A Struggle.”

“Really, SM Department Store? In the boys’ section,” the writer begins the caption that accompanied the post.

“Boys listen to Tita Karen—if a girl says NO and pushes you away, just err on the side of caution, she likely means NO,” writes Kunawicz on her post.

“A comment left on her post by director Robbie Dingalasan said that the shirt was part of the collection of the radio show ‘Boys’ Night Out,” reports GMA News. “He added that the shirt was already in the process of being pulled out.”

GMA News said, however, that they have yet to verify whether the shirt is indeed part of the Boys’ Night Out collection or if they were really being pulled out by SM.

Boys’ Night Out is an evening radio show on Magic 89.9 hosted by DJs Slick Rick, Tony Toni, and Sam YG. On Monday evenings, Ramon Bautista joins them.

Puhleeez, SM. Just. NO.
