12-year-old boy in QC stabbed by barbecue stick by fellow scavengers

If you’ve ever wondered why some Metro Manila criminals are so brazen, here’s one of the answers: They start young.

“A 12-year-old boy identified only as ‘Emerson’ was wounded at around 1:30am on Tuesday, September 30, when he was stabbed several times with a barbecue stick by his fellow scavengers, aged between 12 and 14 years old, while they were scavenging along Kasunduan Street on Litex Road in Commonwealth, Quezon City,” reports Francis T. Wakefield in Tempo.

The suspects quickly fled after the incident.

The report revealed that “the victim managed to seek the help of his brother, also a scavenger.” He was then rushed to East Avenue Medical Center by his brother and their grandmother.

According to the police, “the victim was attacked by the suspects due to their misunderstanding on who has the right to get the garbage in the area.”
