BIR padlocks Mandarin Sky restaurant in QC

This restaurant is currently in tax hell.

“On Friday, October 24, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) padlocked the Mandarin Sky restaurant on Banawe Street, Quezon City,” reports Jun Ramirez in Tempo.

The report said that the restaurant is just “one of the many businesses in the busy commercial area that have been allegedly defying the BIR’s appeal to be more tax compliant.”

It was revealed that Mandarin Sky was placed under surveillance by the investigation division of the Quezon City Revenue Region “following confidential information of alleged massive under declaration of sales.”

As a result of the tax compliance verification drive (TCVD), tax probers were able to come out with yearly estimate sales of around PHP30 million from 2011, 2012, and 2013.

However, Mandarin Sky had reported much lower sales of PHP25 million in 2011, PHP23 million in 2012, and PHP18 million in 2013.
