Presidential Security Group member allegedly shoots himself dead

What a tragedy.

“Corporal Prince Wilfred Gerona of the Philippine Army — who was described as a 30-year-old member of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) — allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in Quezon City at around 2:45am on Sunday, October 26,” reports Francis Wakefield in Tempo.

According to the information from the Quezon City Police District-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (QCPD-CIDU) in Camp Karingal, the incident happened at the rented house of the victim and his live-in partner, Geraldine Casia, in Barangay Holy Spirit.

The report said that Casia, a saleslady, and Casia’s friend and co-worker Fe Geno were having a drink while Gerona was sitting nearby.

The reprot noted: “At some point, Casia disclosed to Gerona that the manager at the store where she worked was courting her. Gerona stood up and entered their room, prompting Casia to follow him and explain her side. Seconds later, a gunshot emanated from the room followed by another. Gerona died on the spot.”

Casia and Geno quickly reported the incident to barangay officials.

The report further revealed that “Scene-of-the-Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered three fired caliber .9mm cartridge cases, two deformed fired bullets, one live ammunition on its chamber, and eight caliber .9mm bullets.”

A probe is being conducted on the incident.
