QC road rage drama: UP professor threatened with gun by alleged bodyguard of VIP

Some people’s egos automatically get supersized when they have guns.

“A University of the Philippines (UP) professor revealed that she and her family were threatened by an armed man, who was allegedly a bodyguard of a VIP, in a traffic altercation along Congressional Avenue in Quezon City at around noon on Monday, October 27,” reports Julliane Love De Jesus on Inquirer.net.

The professor (who refused to be identified for security purposes) and some family members — her son, daughter-in-law, and two girls aged five and six — were on board a Toyota Fortuner. They were on their way to Himlayang Pilipino when a Toyota Innova followed by a heavily-tinted Toyota Land Cruiser cut them off. As such, the professor’s son, who was driving the Fortuner, was forced to pull over.

The report noted: “It ‎was then that the bodyguard got off the Innova’s front passenger seat, drew his firearm, cursed at the victim and said in Filipino: ‘Didn’t you know that we’re guarding a convoy?'”

The professor told off the bodyguard and asked him to calm down‎. After a few moments, the bodyguard returned to the Innova then sped off together with the Land Cruiser.

The report then revealed that “a verification made with the Land Transportation Office said the Innova, with license plate number ZEL 124, was registered under the name of a certain Priscilla Francisco Meneses, a resident of Barangay (village) Bambang, Bulacan town, Bulacan province.”

Meneses is reportedly the mother of Bulacan town ‎Mayor Patrick Meneses. He is also identified as actress Ara Mina’s partner.

Meanwhile, the Land Cruiser, which bore license plate number PQS 904, was said to be registered under Mactab Construction Supply with business address at N. Domingo Street in San Juan City.

The report indicated that Inquirer.net tried to reach the Meneseses for comment.
