Who would have thought there would ever be a Pinoy penguin?
“Four-month-old Kaya — who has the distrinction of being the first penguin to be born in the Philippines — was blessed by Catholic priest Jacob Gomes prior to its first swim on Wednesday, October 29,” reports Philstar.com.
Kaya is a Humboldt penguin.
Humboldt penguins are monomorphic, which means that it is only when Kaya is fully grown that it can be identified as male or female.
Kaya was born at the Manila Ocean Park in Manila on July 8, 2014.
