UNA accuses Mar Roxas of using DILG funds for political ads

Talk about vicious!

In the latest Pulse Asia survey, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Mar Roxas’ public approval rating increased by 6%, mostly because of the respondents in the Visayas and Mindanao areas.

“The United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) — which is the camp of known Roxas nemesis Vice President Jejomar Binay — has now accused the DILG of using public funds were used to finance political advertisements in the Visayas and Mindanao supposedly to gain political mileage Roxas’ 2016 presidential bid,” reports Cynthia D. Balana in Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Speaking for Roxas, DILG Undersecretary Austere Panadero said that, contrary to UNA’s claim was false.

Panadero was quoted as saying, “As far as the DILG is concerned, no such ads exist in any of the provinces in both Visayas and Mindanao.” He explained that he was “bewildered” by UNA’s claims.

Panadero added: “We don’t know where they [UNA] got (that information). Perhaps they can find the answer to their questions by asking themselves.”

The report noted: “UNA has likewise blamed Roxas for the controversial ‘Oplan Stop Nognog in 2016,’ an alleged campaign to discredit Binay.”
