Manila’s traffic jams cost $57 million a day

It’s good to finally put a face to the name, so to speak.

The Japan International Cooperation Agency estimates that Metro Manila’s traffic jams are costing the Philippine economy PHP2.4 billion pesos ($57 million) a day in potential income, reports Rodel Rodis on Inquirer.net.

Jica has also warned that the figure could balloon to P6 billion ($142 M) a day by 2030, adds the report.

Factors included in the computation were gas consumption, lost man hours and and other missed opportunities.
