“Assistant City Prosecutor Raul Y. Desambrana was nabbed by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) before lunch time on Friday, November 14, at Serye Restaurant at the Quezon City Memorial Circle,” reports Ina Reformina on ABS-CBNnews.com.
Desembrana was caught in the act of receiving PHP80,000 from a certain Atty. Rey Cortez.
According to Cortez, Dembrana had pestered him and his client for the money as a guarantee for a favorable resolution in their unjust vexation case.
Cortez and his client sought the help of Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Leila de Lima on Thu, Nov, 13. She immediately ordered the NBI to undertake the entrapment operation.
De Lima stated, “I said it before and will say it again — at the risk of causing occasional embarrassment to us as an institution — I don’t mind authorizing such entrapment operations even on a regular basis, if only to rid our ranks with misfits and scalawags.”
