These 8 international celebrity chefs are coming for Madridfusión Manila 2015

This big-deal gastronomic event is still months away but we’re already excited. It’s the first time Madridfusión will be held outside of Spain.

“Madrid Fusión is the single most important conference for the culinary scene in the 21st century. It is where the world goes to see the future of food, says Department of Tourism secretary Ramon R. Jimenez Jr in Manila Bulletin. “We are very excited to welcome people who are interested in food from Asia, primarily from ASEAN, and from the rest of the world to visit the Philippines in 2015.”

The Manila edition — set from April 24 to 26 at the SMX Convention Center — will look closely into the culinary ties and history between the Philippines and Spain, present the most current and revolutionary techniques, and have an impressive display of notable ingredients and food items from both countries.

“At this first edition of Madridfusión Manila, which will have the participation of an impressive roster of chefs and food professionals from both Spain and the Philippines, Spain will have the status of guest country in commemoration of the 370 years of common history between the two countries — a long period of cohabitation that has left its mark in Philippine cuisine and other diverse cultural manifestations of the country,” according to the event’s official website.

And what would a gastronomic event be without the celebrity chefs hosting live cooking demonstrations? The initial list is impressive, with many of them heads of the world’s most acclaimed restaurants.
