He must be insane.

Angel Gonzales Pineda — a 71-year-old resident of Arayat, Pampanga — was charged with parricide before the Pampanga Provincial Prosecutor’s Office on Mon, Nov 24, for killing his four-year-old grandson.

“Last November 21, Pineda suddenly barged into the home of his daughter. She wasn’t around but he saw his grandchildren watching TV. The boy was with his two older sisters, who were aged seven and 12. For some reason, Pineda suddenly grabbed the boy from behind and brought him to a room where he slashed his neck with an eight-inch long kitchen knife,” reports Franco Regala in Tempo.

The boy’s two sisters ran outside the house and sought help.

Barangay officials went to the house but they failed to convince Pineda to come out of the room where he had locked himself in with his dead grandson.

It was only after the police came that Pineda surrendered.

When asked why he killed his grandson, Pineda said it was because he had mistaken the boy for a chicken.
