We’re all for family bonding, but we hope this man never gets near his wife and kids anymore.

“Carlos Gonzales, a balut vendor, was arrested in Marikina City for hitting his 11-year-old son with a hammer in a fit of rage on Tuesday, November 25, reportedly after learning that his family faced eviction and that his wife had left their children unattended,” reports Jovic Yee in Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Citing the testimony of the family’s neighbors PO3 Rhina Castillo of the Marikina police revealed that Gonzales “had a history of beating up his wife because of jealousy and had probably become suspicious of her again when she left the house earlier that day.”

Witnesses said Gonzales may also have been angry over the fact that they were scheduled to be evicted from their home in Olandes, Industrial Valley Complex “for failure to pay the month’s rent.”

Then again, that’s no excuse for what Gonzales did next.

He got a hammer and his son with it. The boy suffered hammer blows on his back and left arm.

The report noted: “The boy managed to run with his two younger sisters to seek help at the barangay hall, and was later brought to Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center for treatment.”

Gonzales has been charged with child abuse.
