This happened earlier this week, but the details have only been revealed now.

First Lieutenant Shelina Calumay of the Philippine Marines was found dead in her car inside Naval Station Jose Francisco in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City on Wed, Nov 26, at around 6am.

“Calumay had a gunshot wound on her face. Her wallet and mobile phone were missing,” report Jaime Sinapit and Thom Andrade on InterAksyon.com.

Lieutenant Commander Marineth Domingo, Philippine Navy public affairs officer, revealed, “No firearm was found in the vicinity. A hole was seen on the left window of the car, which was parked in front of the Jurado Hall at the military installation.”

Domingo pointed out that “Calumay’s death happened just days after the grocery store inside the base was reportedly robbed of millions of pesos in what is suspected could have been an ‘inside job.'”

The report noted: “Aside from close coordination with police, Domingo said the Navy has formed a board of investigators, headed by the Naval Provost Marshall, to undertake a parallel investigation.”

Calumay leaves behind her husband, Sergeant Jeremy Calumay, who is also a Marine currently assigned to the combat support group. The two have a baby.
