Here we go again.

“On Friday, November 28, Malacañang said it is not true that Health Secretary Enrique Ona has tendered his resignation,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte was quoted as saying in Filipino, “A lot of people were asking me if it’s true that Secretary Ona has resigned. That’s not true. He didn’t submit his resignation yesterday.”

The report noted: “Valte said Ona had already submitted last week to the Palace his report on the Department of Health’s (DOH) immunization program that the President had sought for.”

Thus, as the report indicated, “Executive Secretary Pacquito Ochoa Jr. yesterday asked Ona to extend his leave of absence while the President assesses the contents of his report.”

Valte clarified Ona’s leave is not indefinite, saying, “I have no information as to how long the leave is. However, I do know that it is not indefinite. Someone asked me that and the answer is no. It is not an indefinite leave. So let us afford the President time to go over the report that was submitted by Secretary Ona.”

Well, Valte’s statements definitely shed more light on the matter than the statements of Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr., who had earlier said he didn’t know if Ona would come back to work.
