It’s a first.

“Organizers of the first Quezon City International Marathon Night Run advised motorists that certain roads will be closed from noon today, Nov 29, up to midnight,” reports Reinir Padua in The Philippine Star.

These roads will be closed:

—westbound and eastbound inner lanes of Quezon Avenue, from Sto. Domingo Church to Elliptical Road

—westbound and eastbound inner lanes of Commonwealth Avenue, starting from Elliptical Road up to Puregold Supermarket, right after the Tandang Sora flyover

Mayor Herbert Bautista explained the race route: “Consistent with tradition, the race will be held at the Quezon Memorial Circle, the shrine of our city’s founding father, Manuel Luis Quezon, president of the Republic of the Philippine Commonwealth. From there, it will proceed to Quezon Avenue and Commonwealth Avenue before going back to the QMC.”

The report also noted that “business establishments along Quezon Avenue are expected to take part in the event by showcasing their products along the fun run route to spice up the “street party” celebration for the city’s 75th anniversary.”
