Well, that’s a cute one. University of the Philippines uploaded a 3-minuter video on YouTube called #TatakUP #OneUP. It features a lot of celebrities and personalities from different industries reciting the one thing they have in common: their UP ID numbers.
“There’s something of a clandestine mysteriousness to one’s student number: one never really knows where it came from, or how it was arrived at,” says GMAnews.com. “But it is used for everything: enrollment, tracking of grades… so it stays with you for the duration of your student life, and beyond,” the report adds.
Featured in the video are: ¾ of the Eheads (Where’s Ely?), former President Fidel Ramos (whose on a perennial Facebook like, it seems), Senator Grace Poe (86-01654), and broadcast journos Jessica Soho (81-46200), Karen Davila (88-02348), Che-Che Lazaro (who didn’t say hers!), Julius Babao (85-01776), and Atom Araullo (00-07346), just to name a few.
The personalities included are such household names that it makes you feel like you’re an iskolar ng bayan, even if all you did there was not pass the UPCAT and the occasional cutting of class for an afternoon of isaw and dirty ice cream at the sunken garden.
You know what else is #TatakUP? Mang Larry’s isaw, Mang Rodics’ ‘silogs, the UP Fair that happens every February, and the sausage fest that is the Oblation Run happening in Diliman this afternoon.
