In trendy northwest London, they’ve opened a high-end bar with beautiful details like arched beams and mosaic marble flooring. It’s just, well, it’s located inside an old underground public restroom and called Ladies and Gentlemen. No such thing exists in Metro Manila — yet — but we do have our fair share of speakeasies, bars tucked inside other places.

Behind an exit door: Exit
You enter through Plaza Café on the ground floor of Corinthian Plaza, head straight to the end and pass through the exit door to your left. It opens up to a rather dim room lined with leather couches and wooden chairs. Its drinks list is short, but with original cocktails and imported and local beers, there’s enough to appease your thrist. The choices in snack bar are just as limited, with nachos (PHP350) and potato skins (PHP300) easily emerging from the pack. Inside a restaurant: Red Rabbit
Located behind the smoking area of Bugsy’s Salcedo is the 1920’s-inspired Red Rabbit. The room is a sea of black and white and at the center is a bar lined with an assortment of liquors. The drinks are crafted by mixologist Anthony White and they range from subtle to potent. Within a wine bar: The Curator
Coffee shop by day, cocktail bar by night. Hidden inside Cyrano Wine Bar, The Curator is among the coziest bars in the city. From 7am to 7pm, cold-pressed juices, espresso and daytime cocktails are available; beyond those hours, signature concoctions abound. If none tease your taste buds (although we doubt that), you can easily walk up to the bartender and request for a customized one. Now ain’t that cozy?
