Crimes involving taxis seem to be on full throttle.
“Dela Cruz Transport taxi driver Samuel Castil Jr. lost his cab — a white Toyota Altis with plate number TXU513 — to a robber who has posed as a passenger in the early hours of Thursday, December 18,” reports Noel Alamar on ABS-CBNnews.com.
According to Castil, the man had boarded his cab from P. Burgos Street, Makati. The man asked to be taken to Sta. Ana, Manila.
The report noted: “When they reached Sta. Ana, the suspect pointed a gun at Castil and declared a robbery. Castil said he first thought the passenger was joking since he was short in stature. He said he took a tire wrench beside him in an attempt to defend himself, but the suspect fired at him.”
Fortunately, the bullet only slightly grazed Castil’s left eyebrow.
The report said that “the suspect fled with Castil’s cab, which still contained some of the latter’s belongings.”
The investigation is ongoing.
