“My Christmas will be cold, but I’m OK.”

This was what Senator Bong Revilla Jr. told reporters when they recently asked him how his Christmas would be like in detention.

Revilla said he expected a lonely Christmas “after the Sandiganbayan recently denied his petition to post bail for the plunder charge he is facing in connection with his alleged involvement in the multibillion peso pork barrel fund scam,” reports Elizabeth Marcelo on GMA News Online.

Revilla added that “although he was saddened by the Sandiganbayan 5th Division’s denial of his petition for bail but said he remains hopeful that his motion for reconsideration will be granted by the court.”

“Of course, that’s disheartening. But I still believe that there’s justice in our country,” he explained in Filipino.

Revilla said he will no longer file any motion for Christmas or New Year furlough. He stated, “We won’t seek that. I’m just going to get lambasted on social media if we do that.”

The report noted: “Revilla is facing graft and plunder charges for allegedly funneling his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) or pork barrel in exchange for PHP224.51 million worth of commissions or kickbacks.”

Revilla will be spending Christmas at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
