Because the people of the judiciary need to recharge.

“The Supreme Court has announced in an advisory that work in all courts nationwide would be suspended starting at noon on Dec. 23, ahead of the official start of the Christmas break on Wed, Dec. 24,” reports Tarra Quismundo in Philippine Daily Inquirer.

The report noted: “The High Tribunal has also declared Dec. 29 and Jan. 2 nonworking holidays for court personnel, including those working at the Court of Appeals, Sandiganbayan, and Court of Tax Appeals.”

As with all other employees, work for all judiciary personnel will resume on Jan 5, 2015.

In any case, the report pointed out that “the High Court has been on official recess since its last en banc session on Dec. 10” and among the cases it left pending were “the government’s appeal of its July 1 ruling that declared the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) unconstitutional and the disqualification petition filed against Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada.”
