Yes, Claudine Barretto is (kinda) back in the headlines!

Actually, her lawyer is. Well, her ex-lawyer.

Atty. Ferdinand Topacio is no longer Claudine’s lawyer, but he remains to be her legal counsel for her Violence Against Women and their Children case against estranged husband Raymart Santiago.

Here’s Atty. Topacio’s statement:

“Please be advised that, with the consent and approval of our client, Ms. CLAUDINE BARRETTO, we have WITHDRAWN as her legal counsel in all CRIMINAL CASES involving her in the Regional Trial Court and Prosecutor’s Office of Marikina City, and in the Department of Justice, including cases involving her former personal assistants. “We shall, however, continue to represent Ms. Barretto in her case VAWC case against Mr. Raymart Santiago, including the issues of custody and support consolidated therewith, which is nearing resolution, until the Regional Trial Court level only. “It has been our honor and pleasure to represent Ms. Barretto, and we will continue to render to her whatever extrajudicial legal support and advice necessary to protect her interests in the transition period until she finds new legal representation. We wish her success in her future endeavors.”
