It’s bad enough as it is, but it’s even worse when a prostitution ring can dare to operate out in the open.

“The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) nabbed two suspected pimps and rescued eight young girls in an operation aimed at rescuing minors being peddled at the corner of Scouts Reyes and Gandia Sts. near Tomas Morato Ave. in Quezon City on Wednesday, January 21,” reports Leonard D. Postrado in Tempo.

The report noted: “The NBI Anti-Human Trafficking Division identified the suspects as Evelyn Tañega and James Mercado.”

According to the NBI, agents conducted a two-week surveillance on Tanega before they decided to carry out the operation.

The report revealed that “the NBI had received information that young girls were being offered to men passing by the streets of Tomas Morato.” The regular price of the young girls was pegged at PHP1,000 to PHP1,500.
