But some schools in Metro Manila and other areas in the country are still opening in June, right?
“The University of Santo Tomas (UST) will shift its academic calendar starting Academic Year 2015-2016,” reports Patricia Lourdes Viray on Philstar.com.
The report noted: “In UST’s new calendar, the first semester would be from August to December while the second semester will be from January to May. Thus, the first day for classes for the first semester will be on Aug 10 while the first day for the second term will be on Jan 18, 2016.”
Ateneo de Manila University is also set to shift its academic calendar starting academic year 2015-2016.
The schools changed their academic calendar in time for the full implementation of the K to 12 basic education curriculum.
It may be recalled that the University of the Philippines campuses implemented academic calendar shift last August 2014.
