Some people just turn into monsters when they’re intoxicated.

“Over the weekend, a 49-year-old candle vendor named Alier Aparis was allegedly killed by a drunk barangay tanod or watchman in Tondo, Manila,” reports Rachel Joyce E. Burce in Tempo.

The report noted: “Case investigator PO2 Dennis Turla disclosed that the incident happened at around 8 p.m. at Romana Exit. The victim was busy tending to his store when the suspect, Hapelito ‘Jun’ Obrique, 40, who was allegedly drunk at the time, arrived and insulted his goods.”

It must be pointed out that Aparis was a volunteer barangay watchman like Obrique.

Anyway, Aparis and Obrique had a heated argument, but they were later on pacified by their fellow barangay watchmen. The two were even accompanied to their respective houses by their fellow watchmen.

However, as the report indicated, “Obrique, armed with an improvised bladed weapon, returned and stabbed the victim.”

Aparis was taken to the Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center in Manila where he died.
