He’s not the first person to meet this fate.

“Alberto Cadalo Jr., 77, was hit by a Philippine National Railways (PNR) train while he was crossing the southbound track in Sta. Mesa, Manila Tuesday morning, January 27,” reports Noel Alamar on ABS-CBNnews.com.

The report noted: “Cadalo was a barangay councilman (kagawad) and a resident of Hipodromo Street in Sta. Mesa.”

Meanwhile an Inquirer.net report by Julliane Love De Jesus places Cadalo’s age at 82. The report noted: “PNR spokesperson Paul de Quiroz, in a text message to Inquirer.net, said the man was not on the right crossing area.”

The people who knew Cadalo said he had hearing problems so he probably didn’t notice the train coming as well.
