Congratulations to the Pastry Alliance of the Philippines, most especially to chefs Rizalino Mañas, Bryan Dimayuga and Vicente Cahatol, as it finished twelfth overall in the recently concluded Coupe de Monde dela Patisserie in Lyon, France.
It’s the first time the Philippines qualified for the prestigious international competition and it beat other countries that have been in it multiple times. Italy emerged as the grand champion while Japan finished second, and US, third.
The final results
Every ounce of effort and hardwork surely paid off, as the crowd witnessed the young chefs produce their masterpiece Siklo, for ten long hours. Siklo is an ode to tradition in the form of the hunter and the hunted.

As an icing on the cake, the team bagged the special award for Best Ice Sculpture. The showpiece, which Cahatol had a big hand on, showed an Aeta hunter proudly displaying his catch. It beat 20 other entries in the category.
